This was our fourth two week trip to the Keys since 2014. After speaking with the crew supervisor they postponed the work until Tuesday which was the day we departed. The next door neighbor ran a power washer all day Sunday and Monday a maintenance crew began running a concrete power saw and had hauled in a back hoe to repair a section of dock which had sunk on the other side of our unit. There were serious noise problems no fault of the owners. It was left in the same condition it was in when we arrived. It was nice and what you should expect for the cost. Instead of being treated by Venture Out in a courteous and professional manor to our inquiry I was subjected to a brutal flurry of the rules, regulations, notice of the additional charge upon arrival which was not mentioned on the VRBO site and to my astonishment told that we would be watched the whole time we stayed at our rented unit. Let me say that we are veterans in renting vacation properties and also have had a vacation property listed with VRBO in conjunction with a real estate agency for over a decade until we recently sold it earlier this year. Prior to our arrival I called Venture Out to ask what the procedure was to contact the owners for the usual questions in regards to what was supplied at the rental unit, what we would need to bring with us and to get some recommendations about fishing at the unit, local fishing charters and restaurants. I wasn’t informed of this until I was checking in and by that time, I had no plan B. We also got hit with a $113 “you’ve arrived” fee that was not listed anywhere on the website or when I paid in full upfront. The price per night was very high given the total lack of amenities. Never mind that we were told that the rules stated all four of OUR tires had to be on the driveway pavement. There was construction on the unit next door and work on that place started early and a large black tow trailer made it almost impossible to get our rig in and out of the designated parking space. There was a small novel of rules and regulations. The “dog walk” outside the resort is all rocks and pavement… not very appealing to a dog in need. And if you are located away from the entrance… which we were… this is a chore every time they need to relieve themselves or just get some exercise. You are not allowed to walk you dogs in the resort… even on a leash. The “resort” claims to be dog friendly… it is not. that’s where the good news begins and ends. We are experienced RV travelers and could not have been more disappointed with this RV set up. We will be staying there next year, albeit with a different host.… And Venture Out, the facility, grew on us. The canals and channels are deep and great for boats. Now the good! The place is clean, safe and beautiful. Feel free to ask me the name of the unit owner. The owners thought we were " pests" when we pressed for adequate portable AC units. The overflow lot is extra money and you rent the space in advance. We did manage to get a space for the week later that first night, but it was by sheer luck that we did. Your friends and family will also have to park off site. There is an overflow lot but it tends to be full. There is only room for one car to be parked at your rental house. It wasnt a big deal and the storage fees were reasonable, but we wish we would have known in advance. Security has a list of nearby boat storage places. If you will be bringing a boat, there will be no trailer storage. A visitors opinion is likely not about the resort itself but rather about the rental hosts, who tend to be dishonest about the rules. In fact we will be staying for a week next year.
